How Luxury Real Estate Home Tours Bolster Awareness, Build Community

In 1997, the DMB Realty Network sales team worked with Arizona’s Forest Highlands to launch a home tour to increase awareness about this wonderful gated Flagstaff real estate enclave. Fourteen years later the home tour remains an annual tradition for Forest Highlands residents and members of the surrounding community.

The 2011 tour took place June 25, with 100 attendees streaming through to see the homes on showcase throughout this “paradise in the pines.” Not only that, attendees were able to learn about the private community’s many amenities, including: the diversity of homesites and homes; 36 holes of championship golf; two clubhouses; leisure offerings, such as  tennis, volleyball, hiking, biking, two heated swimming pools, fishing, cross-country skiing and more; and roster of kid-friendly and all-ages social activities.

Later that afternoon, 60 people gathered at the Canyon Clubhouse for performances by the Ponderosa Players and the Elden Brass Quintet. Proceeds from concert tickets were donated in support of the Flagstaff Symphony Orchestra.

At DMB Realty Network, we believe home tours can be a beneficial tool for certain private master-planned communities, especially one like Forest Highlands.  In mountain communities, summer is the prime time for prospective buyers to visit and experience the distinctive aspects of a development. Events, and in this case an annual home tour, provide opportunities to invite people to a private gated community, to develop relationships and to build business. Furthermore, a home tour:

  • Generates awareness at the launch of a development, and during ensuing years, offers residents the opportunity to invite their friends to experience the lifestyle, resulting in leads for developer sales and later re-sales
  • Offers a forum in which residents can get to know their neighbors and build sense of community
  • Gives residents the opportunity to support local nonprofits and charities as a collective
