Originally from Fort Collins, CO, I started playing golf at a very young age. As I grew older, golf quickly became my passion and I decided to pursue a career in the game that I loved so much. I attended the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and studied Professional Golf Management. After graduating in 2010, I became a Class A Member of the PGA of America and began my career at Forest Highlands. The 2016 season will be my sixth at Forest Highlands and third as Head Golf Professional of the Canyon Course.
Through my career I have worked at several private clubs and been able to observe and give many individual and group lessons. Creating interest in the game for new golfers and keeping that interest for existing golfers is what I strive to do as an instructor. Everyone has a different way of learning and because of that I adapt my teaching style to the individual. Creating a plan for improvement is critical and as an instructor I will make sure my students have all the resources they need to get better and enjoy playing the game.
Ryan Smith holds the Canyon Course record of 61.
