Jim is a native Arizonan and was raised in the small mining community of Morenci. After graduating from Morenci High School, Jim attended Arizona State University, where he received a B.S. in Justice Studies. In 1992, Jim and his wife Lisa moved from Phoenix to Flagstaff, so Jim could start a career with the U.S. Probation Office. In Flagstaff, Jim and Lisa raised their three sons. The relocation to Flagstaff also provided an opportunity for Jim to work on a graduate program at Northern Arizona University. In 1995, he received a M.A. in Sociology, with an emphasis in human relations.
In April 2014, after 30 plus years of working in the criminal justice/law enforcement profession (the last 22 years with the U.S. Probation Office), Jim was able to take an early federal law enforcement retirement. In June 2015, Jim was selected to serve as the Forest Highlands Director of Security, after working 14 months as an In-home Counselor, for Catholic Charities Community Services.
While living in Flagstaff, Jim and Lisa have been active community members. Jim’s experience gained from government service and his personal involvement with various community organizations has created a strong skill set to provide great service to the Forest Highlands community. Jim considers his opportunity to serve the Forest Highlands community a privilege and looks forward to learning and growth in his position.
