Shirley Loprino

Shirley has had 3 healthcare careers in 40 years; direct patient care, medical equipment sales and healthcare administration. Along with her MBA she obtained multiple direct patient care licenses and certificates.

In 2000, Shirley volunteered and join forces with the Arizona Regulatory Agency to increase breast cancer awareness risk to Native American women via Indian Health Services. She also created programs focused on breaking health stigmas for present and future generations. She traveled to more than 6 reservation healthcare facilities multiple times over 3 years, educating hundreds of Native American women. While
there she also trained imaging technologists in how to obtain quality mammograms.

In 2001, W.L. Gore in Flagstaff recruited her as a imaging consultant to train vascular surgeons in how to use multiple imaging modalities to measure and order AAA Excluder
Endoprosthesis.

In a continued effort to give back to the Flagstaff community, in 2001 Shirley went back to direct patient care, working the overnight shift at Flagstaff Medical Center. She left to join the Mayo Clinic.

In 2004, she joined the Mayo Clinic as an Administrative manager in the Imaging practice. Partnering with physician leaders Shirley participated in clinical, finance, research, education and development committees and projects in support of the Mayo mission and brand recognition. She retired from Mayo Clinic in 2019.

Shirley and her husband of 45 years bought their lot at Forest Highlands in 1987 to have a family retreat away from the summer heat. They became full time residents shortly after she retired to enjoy Forest Highlands tranquility and beauty, and the compelling community of members.

She served 3 years on the Forest Highlands Finance Committee and currently is a member of the Recreation Committee. Shirley volunteered for the Denise Martinez Golf Tournament and the 25th Anniversary Gala.

Shirley knows firsthand how an agency, foundation, or non-profit’s work helps change the lives of those less privileged and is honored to serve on the Forest Highland’s
Foundation Board.
